11/30/2022 0 Comments Asus g75vw keyboard cover![]() ![]() I’ve used laptops for years to do work on, and there is always a measure of discomfort after long typing sessions because your wrists are resting on the metal or plastic of the laptop case – while we have the nice “gel bars” for desktops, I haven’t seen something like that for a laptop. The rubber coating on the outside might be for a purely design aspect, but on the inside under the keyboard it does far more. The only downside to this coating is that it shows up fingerprints like nothing else, but some electronic wipes will fix that with no problem. All of the dark grey / almost black surfaces are coated in a rubber material, which makes the whole system look and feel unique. Looking at the G75, you are instantly drawn to its sleek design. I have a number of other laptops in the house, including an older Toshiba Satellite that I thought was the biggest laptop I would ever own, and it cowers in fear next to the size of the G75 (though, it would be interesting to see what the best gaming laptop 2018 is, 4 years later). It comes with a 17.3″ display, is about 52 mm thick, and weighs a hefty 8.7 lbs with its 8 cell battery attached – robust indeed. The G75 is the big bully on the school yard, and the games you play are its targets. The G75 is the new flagship model for the Republic of Gamers brand – maybe flagship isn’t the right word, no, I think due to the immenseness of the G75 that mothership would be a much better term. Learn about the best gaming laptop video card. Six years later, the quality of Alienware rigs has noticeably declined under Dell, but the Republic of Gamers branding is stronger than ever. While there were a number of smaller little custom PC manufacturers that rose up in those ten years, Alienware still held a huge market share – so much that Dell decided to buy them – this in and of it self was big news, but more important to this review was that Asus saw the market in high end gaming rigs, and decided to jump in with the Republic of Gamers line. You see, back in those days a gamer only had two real choices – build a rig themselves, or buy one from Alienware, but then in 2006 everything changed. When I went to a computer show in Pittsburgh, I saw what could only be described as my dream rig, a first run Alienware Area-51. Eventually, the whole top will loosen and you will be able to tilt the front top to about 40 to 45 degrees as seen in step 9 of the link above.Back in the “old days” – 1996 to be exact – I was just getting out of high school, and while I had built my own crappy computers for a while by then, I was always on the lookout for something new. Probe for easy section and enlarge as you go on. Use slow and steady force when prying with your hands. So starting from the corners, use thinner credit cards first and then thicker ones later to enlarge the gap and force the plastic clips to give so that you can use both your hands to pry them open. Unlike other laptops I have worked with, the top of the laptop is one piece. It also enabled me to open the case, but not recommended unless you want to risk it. Personally, I did not remove the hinge screws, I just removed the keyboard screws. Then proceed to remove the 1x screw on each side holding the keyboard. Remove the 2x hinge screws first so that you can lay the monitor flat. Take note that in step 7, 2x screws are for monitor hinge and the other is for the keyboard on each side. Proceed to step 5 - 8 of the tear down link above. Make sure the 2x "A" screws were removed in prior steps. Remove the 3x "B" screws off the battery compartment. Remove the optical drive and then take out the 3x "B" smaller screws beneath.ĥ. Kudos to Asus for label the screw sizes on the corresponding holes.Ĥ. Make sure to place the different sized screws separately on the towel and label them if needed. Go to the link above and unscrew all the highlighted screws in step 1 & 2. Shut down the laptop remove the battery and all cables and lay the laptop face down on a towel atop a flat table.ģ. I did not and it caused me lots of issues.Ģ. Very important: go into control panel - remove program and uninstall both the bluetooth and Asus wireless driver (called Asus Driver something). Since the above guide has pretty good pictures and descriptions, I will just supplement whatever it is missing:ġ. I was assisted by this tear down help guide: ASUS G75VW Disassembly Manual - Computer Upgrade King ![]() You will need: intel 6230 wifi card from Amazon or elsewhere small philips with long necks (magnetic tip recommended) stack of useless credit/membership cards, or those plastic tipped tools used to pry open iphones and such a decent sized towel 2-3 hours and lots of patience. For now, I shall detail how to get 6230 installed: ![]() However, I had intended to upgrade it to the 6300 with 3 antennas, but failed. I just finished upgrading my G75vw's stock Athero wifi/bluetooth chip to an Intel 6230 wifi/bluetooth combo. ![]()
